Instagram has currently blocked the access to Graph API by using ‘?__a=1’. But we can still download Instagram Reels and Stories by making a tiny modification to the parameters. Instead of, ?__a=1, now we have to use, ‘https://instagram.com/your-post-link/?__a=1&__d=dis’.
Instagram has updated their query to the API. So, you have to use the new query above to access Reels, Photos.
But, today I will show you the easiest way to download Reels, DP, IGTV, or Images from Instagram. In this process, you will only need a Instagram account for accessing other’s content. At past, we could actually do this trick without logging into Instagram. But now, IG has started to redirect anonymous users to login page after a few requests.
So, I hope you’ve finally logged into your Instagram account, and ready to dive in the process.
How to download Instagram Reels, Stories and More?
Browse any reels on Instagram you want to download. Afterwards, click on the three dots on the right-top corner and select the copy link option. It will copy the current reel link.
Next, open a new blank tab, and paste the copied URL. Wait, don’t tap on the Enter/Go now. Here comes the trick, add “?__a=1&__d=dis” at the end of the URL(without quotation) and press enter. Your browser will return a JSON object like below.
Afterwards, press CTRL+F (desktop users) or select Find on page(mobile users) on browser. Then, type “video_versions” in the input box. Now, the browser will head you to a node named video_versions. Basically, it is an array of objects.
Now, if you scroll a little, you will see the object properties(type,height,width,url,id) and their corresponding values also. Also, the objects are not identical. They hold different URL values for different video qualities.
So, you can download a Instagram Reel in both HD & Non-HD versions. Simply, click on the of the object’s URL property. It will start downloading the content(if you’re on desktop). On mobile, it will start streaming the reel, and you’ve to download it by clicking on the three dots, or by a long press.
For downloading Images, DP, IGTV, or Audio you will have to follow the same steps. But, the searching value will not be identical. Below I have provided all the searching values for their corresponding contents.
